Our story
From a local initiative to a regional home
Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Gabi Naaman, Mayor of Shlomi, the local council has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to special education by establishing a permanent home for our institution when other regional frameworks were unavailable. Founded to address a critical gap in services for the autism community in Northern Israel, Nechalim has evolved from a pioneering local initiative into a premier regional resource.
Our curriculum is grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), providing a structured, evidence-based environment that fosters essential communication, social, and life skills tailored to each student's developmental path. The school's commitment to safety is foundational; each classroom is equipped with specialized therapeutic "safe rooms" that provide both security and a calming space for de-escalation. Even amidst the unique security challenges of the North, Nechalim remains a symbol of resilience, serving as a stabilizing force for our families. We are currently in a phase of significant growth, expanding our facilities to include vocational training wings and a community café to bridge the gap between education and independent living.
Today, Nechalim stands as a vital community pillar, employing over 70 professionals from Shlomi and the broader Western Galilee. Our multicultural staff reflects the region's vibrant diversity, ensuring that every student receives culturally sensitive, inclusive, and highly personalized care.
